Phase Overview

In this training phase for the Clinician II position, participants will focus on enhancing their comprehensive knowledge of Schools as Centers of Wellness (SCOW), encompassing its core themes and components. Clinician IIs will learn the significance of applying a Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging (DEIB) framework. Additionally, the training will clarify the specific expectations of Clinician IIs, including understanding their supervisory duties in guiding the clinical team in healthcare billing and documentation standards.

Phase Objectives

  1. Solidify in-depth understanding of SCOW, including the themes and core components of the model

  2. Understand the importance of approaching work with a DEIB framework

  3. Understand assigned roles and responsibilities

  4. Understand protection legislation (HIPAA & FERPA) and areas where legislation may conflict

  5. Develop understanding of Clinician II role in supervising licensed and unlicensed clinical team, including providing guidance in healthcare billing and associated documentation requirements

STEP 1

Attend County New Employee Orientation

Attend the county's New Employee Orientation to receive essential information about employment with the county Board of Education. This orientation provides an overview of organizational policies, procedures, and expectations.

STEP 2

Attend the Schools as Centers of Wellness (SCOW) Employee Orientation

Attend the Schools as Centers of Wellness Employee Orientation to acquire essential information about the program. This orientation will provide you with a foundational knowledge base central to your role. Gaining this understanding is key to effectively participating in and contributing in the functional aspects of your role.

General Program Knowledge

Clinician IIs should have gathered the vision, mission, and values of the Schools as Centers of Wellness (SCOW) program, emphasizing the significance of adult protective relationships and their role in fostering such relationships.

Clinician IIs should gather tools on how to care for their own mental health and wellness to sustain their effectiveness in their roles. They should also gain the ability to articulate their personal motivation ("my why") for engaging in this work, enhancing their sense of purpose and commitment.

STEP 4

Clinical Oversight and Support

Learn about the Clinician II responsibilities in providing oversight for Licensed Clinicians and Associate Clinicians seeking licensure through the Board of Behavioral Sciences (BBS). Regular participation in individual/group supervision for Associate Clinicians provides a supportive environment for discussing cases, sharing insights, and receiving feedback. Consistent participation in monthly consultation groups ensures that Licensed Clinicians continue to refine their skills, stay updated on best practices, and receive support for complex cases.
