Phase Overview

In this training phase, Family Navigators will provide essential onboarding documentation and gain a foundational understanding of Schools as Centers of Wellness.

Phase Objectives

  1. Provide necessary documentation for employment onboarding

  2. Develop an understanding of school-based mental health and wellness

  3. Develop a general understanding of the intersection between the healthcare and education systems, and the impact on the larger community

STEP 1

Receive Job Description

Thoroughly review the job description provided to gain a clear overview of responsibilities and expectations. Develop a basic understanding of the Family Navigator role to ensure duties can be performed effectively. This foundational knowledge is crucial for fulfilling the position's requirements and contributing to the team's success.

STEP 2

Review Centers of Wellness Website

Explore the Centers of Wellness website to become familiar with its content and resources. Identify specific topics that resonate with you and prepare to share insights during the SCOW Orientation, as this will help facilitate meaningful discussions and enhance your understanding of key wellness concepts.

STEP 4

Employment Documents

Compile, complete, and submit tasks and forms required for employment and onboarding. This comprehensive process ensures that all necessary credentials and clearances are obtained for the Family Navigator role.

    • Complete fingerprinting as per health center and school district requirements

    • Resume

    • Government-issued photo ID

    • Documentation of current PPD results (TB test)

    • Documentation of current flu vaccination

    • Declination form and agreement to abide by policy

STEP 5

Onboarding Support

Understand who to contact for support during the onboarding process. Family Navigators are given specific administrative points of contact within the program to facilitate efficient communication and support. These contacts are essential for addressing administrative needs and obtaining necessary information.

    • Receive program administrators’ point of contact

    • Coordinate with administrative staff to retrieve technology (phone, computer, fob, lock box, badge)
