Phase 4: On-Site (May)

Phase Overview

During this phase, Graduate Clinical Interns will further embed themselves in the school’s culture and advance its transformation into a Center of Wellness. They’ll deepen their role clarity, actively participate in multidisciplinary meetings, reflect on their growth and career path with their task supervisor, and complete all necessary closing documentation and external referrals.

Phase Objectives

  1. Continue integrating into school culture and support development of school as a Center of Wellness

  2. Navigate with full understanding of Graduate Clinical Intern role and responsibilities while supporting development of school as a Center of Wellness

  3. Participate in multidisciplinary meetings through end of school year

  4. Collaborate with task supervisor and field instructor to reflect on personal and professional development, engaging in career visioning and determining next steps along career path

  5. Engage in closing with clients, providing closing documentation and external referrals as needed

STEP 1

Closure and Documentation

Engage in honorable closing with students and document these interactions thoroughly. Learn to refer students to the appropriate level of service based on their needs and progress. This involves effective communication with the students and ensuring they receive the proper support and resources as required.

STEP 2

Registration and Application

Based on graduate program, interns will apply for an ASW or AMFT number or submit their PPSC application to the CTC. Completing these tasks supports their transition from student to emerging professional in the mental health or education field.

    • Register with Board of Behavioral Sciences (BBS): 

      • MSW II: Apply for Associate Clinical Social Worker (ASW) number

      • MFT Trainees: Apply for Associate Marriage and Family Therapy (AMFT) number and submit clinical hours

      • PPSC: Apply/Submit application to Commission on Teacher Credentialing (CTC)

STEP 3

Professional Development

Assess personal growth and accomplishment through end-of-year assessment and evaluation. This reflective process supports closure of the internship experience while identifying areas of continued development.

    • Complete End-of-Year Post Assessment

    • Collaborate with field instructor to complete End-of-Year Evaluation

    • Schedule meeting with Career Pipeline coordinator to determine next steps in career journey

STEP 4

End-of-Year Activities

Participate in end-of-year celebrations that honor intern contributions and growth throughout the internship. These events serve as meaningful moments of closure, recognition, and connection with peers, supervisors, and the school community.
