Phase Overview

In this training phase, Coordinators will advance their understanding of their role and responsibilities in fostering Schools as Centers of Wellness. They will provide targeted support to assigned school sites, ensuring alignment with integration goals, and will offer support to school site-based team members. This phase emphasizes deepening integration into the school culture, participating in multidisciplinary meetings, and enhancing the overall effectiveness of school wellness initiatives.

Phase Objectives

  1. Further develop understanding of Coordinator role and responsibilities in supporting development of school as a Center of Wellness

  2. Provide support to assigned schools sites as clients

  3. Provide oversight and support to school site-based SCOW team members, ensuring a collaborative approach to school transformation

STEP 1

Role Development

Understand the Coordinator's role in transforming schools into centers of wellness and serving schools as clients. Begin integrating TSEL practices and the DEIB framework while building authentic partnerships.

    • Continue to develop understanding of Coordinator’s role in transforming Schools as Centers of Wellness (serving schools as clients)

    • Begin integrating TSEL practices within work to cultivate the DEIB framework and engage in authentic partnerships

    • Acknowledge the value of introspection and self-awareness when circumstances or conversations lead to discomfort

    • Attend and collaborate in regional team meetings, program team meetings, professional development and trainings, and events within region

STEP 2

Supporting School Sites as Clients

Support and encourage the transformation of schools, ensuring school sites develop systems to implement the Schools as Centers of Wellness model.

    • Focus on supporting the core components and completing Road Map tasks

    • Attend district and school site events for assigned schools

    • Schedule and visit each assigned school site monthly (may include regional team members, school site staff, and Career Pipeline as needed)

    • Develop referral form/system alongside Clinicians 

    • In collaboration with clinicians, develop action plan(s) to:

      • Strengthen accountability in effort to achieve core components

      • Strengthen collaboration of care team

      • Support school as client

      • Add school site events for school year to SCOW program calendar

STEP 3

Clinician Oversight

Maintain a supportive supervisory relationship with Clinicians, facilitating their participation in all required training and development opportunities while ensuring adherence to program standards.

    • Schedule and facilitate monthly 1:1 with Clinicians

    • Ensure Clinicians are scheduled to attend all necessary trainings

    • Collaborate with Clinician IIs to complete chart reviews

STEP 4

Supporting School Site Team

Regularly communicate with school-based teams to ensure alignment with organizational schedules and minimizing disruptions.

    • Request work plans from team members who work while schools are closed for November holiday break

    • Address discrepancies between school calendar and SCOW calendar with Clinicians, and develop work plans for calendar conflicts
